Raphael N’Guessan is a Medical Entomologist and West Africa IVCC programme manager based in Benin. His current research interests are on malaria vector control, with particular emphasis on control of resistant vectors, insecticide resistance management, and investigation of alternative strategies for its delay.

Open Access | Control of pyrethroid and DDT-resistant Anopheles gambiae by application of indoor residual spraying or mosquito nets treated with a long-lasting organophosphate insecticide, chlorpyrifos-methyl

The study indicates that chlorpyrifos methyl outperformed DDT and lambdacyhalothrin. In IRS campaigns, it should provode improved levels of transmission control compared to conventional formulations of DDT or pyrethroids, always assuming that the product is available for such use.
