In a recent blog post on MalariaWorld (Open Access 2.0: Power in our own hands) Bart Knols emphasized the need for free and universal access to scientific information in our Quest to besiege malaria. I recently started a discussion group on LinkedIn on the topic of Open Access 2.0. Because I can see that it might be more convenient for the subscribers of the MalariaWorld to share their views using this platform, I want to introduce Open Access 2.0 as a topic for the MalariaWorld forum. My hope is that we can use this forum to discuss strategies for achieving open access 2.0 publishing. In collaboration with the Dutch Malaria Foundation I am working on a project for the establishment of an Access to Scientific Information index (click here) which should provide a much needed  tool on the way to Open Access. Please join us in this discussion and let us know what you think about the idea of an Index, about the criteria to be used and any other ideas you may have. We really need your input in these matters which are of utmost concern to us all
