This paper uses parasitological data from the Zambia MIS 2006 to analyse and predict the geographic patterns of malaria risk in the country within a Bayesian framework. It is interesting that the traditional environmental covariates did appear to be important predictors of infection risk in the final model and that interventions showed a stronger relationship at the local level. This perhaps is an indication of the gains Zambia has made in scaling up malaria control interventions.

This study reports the impact of HIV-1 infection and other variables on the level of malaria humoral immunity in adults with clinical malaria and whether humoral immune suppression was a risk factor for treatment failure.

This paper presents estimates of P. falciparum infection prevalence in children under 5 years old in the context of a population-based household survey in Luangwa District (Lusaka Province), Zambia, an area where greater than 75% of households possess at least one insecticide-treated mosquito net (ITN).
